Think Tank Meetings

TargetCancer Foundation annually hosts The Think Tank on Advancing Gastroesophageal Cancer Research, a unique, two-day scientific meeting addressing the challenges facing researchers and clinicians in gastroesophageal cancer. Bringing together many of the top clinicians and researchers in this disease area, this meeting is designed to promote collaboration, information-sharing and idea generation in an effort to define research priorities, foster new collaborative efforts across institutions, and ultimately propel the field of gastroesophageal cancer research forward. This meeting also provides the opportunity for early-career scientists to present abstracts and posters to the leaders in their field.

“One thing that struck me the most about this conference was not the similarities about the people in the room, but the differences. There were not only experts across clinical disciplines, but also basic scientists and epidemiologists, industry and diagnostic experts, and advocacy groups and patient-partnered research groups. Everyone was working on the same diseases, but from different angles, and seeing them come together to learn from one another in this way was something to admire.”

– Dr. Monika Laszkowska, who shared her reflections on her experience attending the 2019 Think Tank on Advancing Gastroesophageal Cancer Research.
